Chambliss wins in London

American pilot Kirby Chambliss scored a surprise victory in the London Red Bull Air Race this afternoon, after British pilot and hot favourite Paul Bonhomme hit a pylon and aborted his run, thus missing out on the chance of flying in the finals.

It was a blustery and rainy day over the River Thames, but Chambliss didn’t mind – this is his second victory in three races and he’s now much closer to Bonhomme in the championship table – just two points behind on 36 to Bonhomme’s 38.
