Cirrus reduces production targets

Cirrus, manufacturer of the Cirrus SR20 and SR22 single-engine aircraft, has announced that it will be significantly reducing its total production target for the month of December. As a result, it is temporarily laying off a number of its employees.

The company does say, though, that ‘all employees will be returning to work on January 5, 2009.’ It adds that although production capacity is being reduced for this period all other departments, including the Vision Jet programme, will continue unaffected. It also says that it will be paying medical and other key benefits to the furloughed staff.

Cirrus says it anticipates ‘robust sales’ during December, and should have adequate inventory to fulfil those orders.
