Damyns Hall stops charging landing fees

Damyns Hall Aerodrome has stopped charging landing fees, in a hope that the move will increase visitor numbers to the airfield.
Speaking to FLYER, Airfield Manager Keith Reynolds explained, “I’ve done a lot of flying in the rest of Europe – so many aerodromes on the continent don’t charge a fee and have a great atmosphere and thriving business as a result – we’ve decided to try a more continental approach, hoping that more people will want to stop by and visit.
“We have a clubhouse, where visitors can get hot and cold fare and we hope that not charging the landing fee will make more people willing to fly in, spend a little on a cup of tea and a bacon butty and enjoy our facilities. We want to encourage a welcoming and fun atmosphere and hopefully this will help us do that.”
The airfield is introducing the change on a trial basis – most likely six months – to see how this affects visitors to the airfield.
Damyns Hall has also recently reduced the price it charges for avgas and is currently offering fuel at £1.80 per litre.
