Diamond Aircraft has delivered its 1,000th DA20, to a school in Canada.
The type was originally launched in Austria in the mid-in 1990s as the DV20 Katana; a number of variants followed, including the latest CA2-C1 Eclipse. While the original DV20 was powered by a Rotax, the latest version uses a Continental IO-240.
The type is particularly popular among training schools in North America, where the world’s largest DA20 fleet – 44 aircraft – is operated by Doss Aviation, which runs the USAF initial flight screening programme.
