Flight Design C4 light aircraft makes first flight

Flight Design has announced that its proof-of-concept C4 light aircraft made a successful 45min first flight on 9 April from the company’s Kamenz Airport base. A statement from the team said, ‘The plane flew well and the first flight proceeded until all the test points on the EASA-approved flight test card were achieved.’
The four-seat aircraft with carbon fibre airframe, which incorporates a ‘safety cell’ cabin structure, is powered by a 180hp Continental IO-360-AF. It will have a Garmin touch EFIS-equipped panel and have a target price of $250,000.
The C4 prototype made its debut on static display at AERO. It is hoped that first deliveries will take place at the end of 2016.
