Following on from yesterday’s 65th anniversary celebrations from Tecnam, today it was the turn of Flight Design to signal a special milestone, its silver jubilee. To mark the occasion, the German and US based manufacturer gave an update on a number of its projects.
CEO Matthias Betsch explained that the first of the company’s aircraft to feature the 912iS engine from Rotax has been delivered, explaining, “This engine will take over and it will get a big chunk of the market. In the US it caters for 100% of the customers.”
He also added that all European models will now be supplied as standard with 8.33kHz radios.
Moving on to the latest news on the much anticipated four-seater C4 (pictured), Matthias explained that Flight Design has decided to move the aircraft’s production schedule back as a result of changes to regulations regarding Part 23. The new schedule is to have the first flight in one year’s time, with EASA certification to follow within 12-18 months and the first deliveries in the late part of 2015.
