Flying in France on your NPPL may soon be possible

NPPL holders may soon be able to fly to, and in France with their NPPL. Although holders of an NPPL (M) have always been able to do this, holders of the NPPL SEP (now known as the SSEA – Simple Single Engine Aeroplane) may soon be able to join them.

As a result of discussions between the LAA, the CAA and the DGAC it seems likely that a way will be found to make the NPPL acceptable to the French (and hopefully) other authorities. In order for this to happen the licence will need to be made ICAO compliant. This will probably be possible by fulfilling some experience requirements, and by taking a French (or JAR) medical.

Roger Hopkinson, LAA Chairman, has been deeply involved in the discussions and you can read the full story on the LAA website. Click here for more
