GAAC updates fact sheets

The General Aviation Awareness Council (GAAC) has updated its fact sheets on Safeguarding Airfields.

The fact sheets – numbers 4a and 4b – are available for downloading from the GAAC website.

The sheets ‘spell out the actions necessary to have an airfield added to the list of safeguarded sites held by the Local Planning Authority’. This gives the airfield a strong measure of protection from local development. Such development might include residential and commercial development, windfarms, communication masts and so on.

The documents also explain what safeguarding is, why it is required and some of the legal requirements and ramifications.

The GAAC has a series of 12 fact sheets on various subjects. They’re not long, but they are essential reading for anyone who is involved with defending the rights of aviation.

<i>To find the fact sheets, go to the GAAC website (<a href=’http://www.gaac.org.uk’ target=’_blank’>www.gaac.org.uk</a>), choosing the Planning option from the navigation bar on the left, then choose ‘Factsheets’ from the drop-down menu.</i>
