Garmin gets EASA ETSO Approval for the G600

Garmin has received EASA European Technical Standard Order (ETSO) approval for the GDU 620 display/control unit, which is the display unit for the G600 flight display system. As the other components of the 600 series have already been approved under ETSO, it means that the whole system is now eligible in Europe and can be installed into European aircraft certified up to 5,700kg.

“The G600 is unique in how it immediately transforms an aircraft’s panel from steam gauges to all-glass,” said Garmin’s vice president of marketing Gary Kelley. “With the G600, pilots will have the largest MFD in their primary field of view than ever before, and they’ll be amazed at how this system increases situational awareness and reduces workload.”

The G600 incorporates two individual displays – a PFD and MFD – designed for easy retrofit installation. Its size – 10 inches by wide 6.7 inches high – makes for easy installation into most existing instrument panels.

The PFD (Primary Flight Display) screen provides attitude and air data; the MFD (mutli-function display) provides navigation data in a pictorial way. The G600 is designed to be linked up to Garmin’s panel mount WAAS GPS products.

The product has a suggested retail price of $29,995.
