German LSA targets Cessna market

German company Remos Aircraft has announced that it is expanding its US manufacturing base by opening a new manufacturing plant in Arkansas. IT plans to build its Remos G-3 LSA (Light Sport Aircraft) there.

The company has been causing ripples in the American market since the autumn, when it announced that it would honour Cessna SkyCatcher deposits, by knocking $5,000 off the base price of the Remos G-3 for anyone who had previously put a deposit on the new Cessna aircraft. To rub salt into Cessna’s wounds, it promised to deliver new aircraft within three months rather than the two to three years currently estimated for SkyCatcher.

The Remos is an ultralight in the standard carbon fibre mould, with a climb rate of 1,330 fpm, a range of 550 nautical miles and a cruise speed of 113 kt.
