Glasair Two Weeks to Taxi going strong

Homebuilt aircraft manufacturer Glasair Aviation says that its ‘Two Weeks to Taxi’ programme, which it introduced last year is going strong.

The programme, rather remarkably, does exactly what it says on the tin: you arrive at the factory, are given a set of components, put them together and 14 days later you can expect to start up the Lycoming engine and set go for a taxi. You get expert help the whole time, of course, and it all fits into the FAA’s 51 percent rule.

Feedback from those who’ve taken the course and built their aircraft is that it was an amazing experience, one from which they learnt much about not just the aircraft that they would fly, but also about aircraft in general and how they work.

The aircraft that you’ll build in two weeks is the Sportsman, a derivative of the Glastar. Glasair has now delivered over 3,000 kits of its various types.
