Goodwood Aerodrome has launched a number of scholarships to remember and honour Rob Wildeboer, the Goodwood Flying School Manager, who died last year after a sudden illness.
Rob joined Goodwood straight from school aged 16, initially as an aircraft engineering apprentice, making his way to Aviation General Manager before managing the Goodwood Flying School.
“Rob was a one-man institution at the Aerodrome, loved by all who came into contact with him and absolutely integral to everything we do in the aviation business,” said a statement from Goodwood.
“To remember and honour Rob in accordance with the wishes of his family, a number of scholarships will be offered through Goodwood Flying School, made possible by kind donations from the community.”

To apply for a Rob Wildeboer Scholarship, please email [email protected] explaining in no more than 500 words which Scholarship you would like to apply for and why you should be the one to benefit. Please provide brief details of any previous flying experience. If you would like further information, please contact the Flying School Operations Manager here.
All applicants must be at least 16 years old and hold or be capable of obtaining the appropriate aviation medical. Scholarships are only available for training at Goodwood Flying School and training will be carried out during 2022. Any training required beyond that provided by the Scholarship will be at the applicant’s own expense.
Applications will only be accepted in writing via email to [email protected] by 30 April 2022. All applicants must agree to abide by the decision of the selection panel.
