Have your say against gold-plating in GA

The CAA has released an open letter inviting anyone to point out areas where the UK CAA may have gold-plated European rules.
CAA’s Chief Executive, Andrew Haines has joined with Martin Robinson, Chief Executive of AOPA, in calling on GA pilots and organisations to provide examples where the CAA has ‘gold-plated’ EU regulations.
The letter explains, “Strictly speaking gold-plating is, in the European Commission’s own words ‘exceeding the requirements of European Union (EU) legislation when transposing Directives into national law’. We accept this definition and would additionally include EU regulations, which include the Implementing Rules (IRs) themselves, Acceptable Means of Compliance (AMCs), and Guidance Material (GM). In the case of general aviation we have said that we would refine the definition to say that we will not impose higher standards that those consistent with EU rules.” Read the full letter here.
Comments and suggestions should be emailed to [email protected]. The email address will initially be open until Friday 17 October.
