Historic Aircraft Association Symposium 8 Nov

Aviation in the Great War and Glider Assault Operations as part of the liberation of Europe are the twin themes of this year’s Annual Historic Aircraft Association (HAA) Symposium, which takes place at the RAF Museum, Hendon on Saturday 8th November, starting at 0930h for 1000h.
The theme of Aviation in the Great War will feature “Biggles Biplane” BE-2 replica co-owner Stephen Slater talking about the Royal Flying Corps’ first deployments to France in August 1914, Russell Savory will tell of the work being done to preserve and restore Stow Maries airfield, believed to be the last intact Great War airfield, and ‘Dodge’ Bailey, Shuttleworth Collection Chief Pilot, who will provide an insight into what it it’s like to fly aircraft from the Great War era.
Glider Assault Operation in Europe will be covered by former senior Army Air Corps officer Paul Beaver, who will subsequently host a round-table forum, with some of the surviving veterans of D-Day and Arnhem glider operations.
The day-long Symposium is open to all and tickets cost £20 for HAA members and £30 for non members.
Tickets may be obtained from HAA Membership Secretary Wendy Hinchcliffe [email protected] or via the HAA website. Early booking is advised as numbers are limited.
A preferential membership and joining rate will be available on the day for non HAA members.
As in previous years, we have been able to negotiate a waiver of the car parking fee for those arriving by car.
