ICON caps year of expansion with A5 type certificate

ICON A5

ICON Aircraft has been granted a Type Certificate for its A5 amphibious aircraft by the US authority, the FAA.

Type certification allows ICON to take advantage of reciprocal agreements between the FAA and aviation governing bodies outside the US including those in the UK, Europe, Asia, Australia, and South America to certify the A5 to operate in these regions.

It also makes it easier for owners to fly internationally.

Jerry Meyer, CEO of ICON Aircraft, said, “Receiving FAA Type Certification for the ICON A5 in the primary category is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the entire ICON team.

“It allows us to expand our market potential around the world, and it underscores the commitment of ICON Aircraft to innovation and excellence in design.”
