The uAvionix AV-30-E electronic flight display has been approved by the Light Aircraft Association (LAA) as a backup display for Permit aircraft owners and operators in the UK.

uAvionix said in a statement, “Why do I need a backup display you may ask? Well, anyone fitting a full EFIS to an LAA-administered aircraft without standard vacuum-driven Air Speed Indicator, Altimeter and a conventional compass must fit a multifunction back up instrument that independently provides these functions should the main EFIS become inoperable.

“Additionally, only instruments tested and approved by the LAA are eligible to be used as a backup and must be listed in an LAA document called TL3.20.  An AV-30-E can even be used as a backup to another AV-30-E installed as the primary instrument.”

The AV-30 fits in an existing 3in panel hole. It can be mounted from behind to preserve the ’round dial’ look.

Features of the AV-30 include:

  • Primary Attitude
  • Primary Slip
  • Primary Direction Indication
  • Probeless Angle Of Attack
  • Indicated Airspeed
  • Altitude / Vertical Trend / Alerter
  • +8 / -8 G-Meter
  • OAT / TAS / Density Altitude
  • Bus Voltage
  • GPS Navigational Data Overlay
  • GPS HSI / 360 Rose / Arc Map Mode
  • Audio Alerts (AoA, G, Roll Limits)
