Lancasters on display this weekend at Headcorn

The Canadian Avro Lancaster which arrived in England last week will be providing a full display with other aircraft from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) this weekend on both Saturday and Sunday, held at Kent’s Headcorn Aerodrome, Ashford, Kent.
The Avro Lancaster will join the only other airworthy Lancaster in the world, owned and operated by the Royal Air Force’s renowned BBMF. The event will be one of the very few opportunities to see both flying together in the UK.
The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum’s Lancaster flew from Hamilton, Ontario on August 5 and arrived in England on August 8. The North Atlantic crossing included en-route stops at Greenland and Iceland, although it did face some delays on the journey prior to arriving at the BBMF, RAF Coningsby. Shortly after arriving, the Lancaster underwent a scheduled maintenance inspection and the Canadian crews completed a short training program with the BBMF in preparation to participate in several air displays and fly pasts with the BBMF Lancaster and fighters.
