Following on from yesterday’s announcement about the launch by Jeppesen of its FlightDeck VFR iPad app, today we got a chance to look at the myWingMan flight planning app from Bendix King.
Due to be launched in Germany first in the very near future, with the UK launch pencilled in for the summer, the app will cost $129 per country for a one year subscription or $299 for all of Europe, with updates available free. The app was released initially as a US only product, with the 1.2 version taking the European market onboard. The main features of this attractive is that it avoids the use of dropdown menus, preferring a function wheel to flick between features. It also designed to work for both IFR and VFR flights, with a choice of two and three-way split screens, the ability to interface with the Aspen-connected cockpit, geo-referenced charts, Smart Route flight planning and very much more. A free 30-day trial download is available at the App store, although you might want to wait until the UK map is available to make use of this.
