NBAA Convention News

The NBAA – National Business Aviation Association – Convention took place this week in Orlando, Florida. The attendance of over 30,000 was just down on last year’s numbers, but with was still described as ‘solid’ by the organisers.

Among the news to come out of the Convention:

• Socata revealed that it is building a twin-engine aircraft, designated the NTx. It’s not confirming whether this is a propeller or jet-powered aircraft

• Wright “B” Flyer Inc unveiled its latest replica of the Wright Brothers’ original. Called ‘Silver Bird’, it took 30 volunteers over a year to build. The plan is to ferry it to airshow venues. This new version will be easier to do that with than previous models, says the company

• AAI, which bought the rights to Adam Aircraft’s A700 light jet earlier this year, has confirmed that it has put the aircraft’s production back on track and are looking to make deliveries in late 2010. AAI also bought the rights to the Adam A500 piston twin, which is already certified; however, this will not go back into production, said the company, because there is currently no demand for piston twins.

There’ll be a full report from NBAA in the next (December) issue of FLYER.
