Promising to be another contender in the Light Sport Aircraft market is the Wave amphibian from New Zealand-based Vickers Aircraft.
Similar in appearance to the long-awaited ICON A5, the Wave will be powered by a 180hp Lycoming IO-360. Vickers Aircraft founder, Paul Vickers, says the choice of a powerplant different to the usual Rotax-912 engine choice typical to LSA’s, is due to weight savings in the aircraft’s aluminium and structure.
The first prototype is due to fly later this year.
