Popham Microlight Fair Postponed

The Popham Microlight Trade Fair, which has so often provided a start to the serious flying year for many pilots, has been cancelled this year, due to waterlogging.

The event, which was due to have taken place this weekend (May 3-4) and its sister event the Aero/Auto Jumble (due on Monday) have been officially called off, according to a note on the website, “Due to the amount of rainfall over the last few days”.

The note continues: “Popham Airfield is totally waterlogged and the current forecasts predict that it will NOT dry out before the weekend. We deeply regret any inconvenience caused but will unfortunately now have to postpone the entire event where we will re-schedule it, probably with a normal fly-in.”

Those re-scheduled dates are 2 and 3 August.

Meanwhile, the airfield says that if anyone does fly in this weekend they will still get a free landing, but you should check before flying, because the field may still be too wet to use.
