Registration for free Olympic flight plans is open

SkyDemon has opened registration for free filing of flight plans via the SkyDemon Light tool, effective during the period of the 2012 Olympic Games.
While the Olympic airspace restrictions are in effect, SkyDemon Light will automatically detect flight through the restricted area and create a valid flight plan. It will then allow simple customisation and submission directly to ATLAS control, who are managing the flow through the restricted area.
Although flight plan filing through SkyDemon Light is free, pilots must request an account and provide SkyDemon with their UK PPL/CPL license number beforehand so that they can gain access to the system. For more information and to register, visit the SkyDemon website. www.skydemon.aero/olympics
Pilots without a UK PPL/CPL license number will not be able to use SkyDemon Light but are still free to use the standard subscription software. There is a charge to subscribe, but there is no charge to file flight plans that penetrate the Olympic restricted airspace.
Tim Dawson, Chief Software Architect at SkyDemon, said, “We’re very proud to have teamed up with EuroFPL to offer free flight plan submission to so many UK pilots. This effort is funded entirely by the two of us, in the hope that it will keep lots of pilots flying when they otherwise might not.”
