Remos demonstrator in the UK

UK importer Remos Aircraft UK has taken delivery of a new top-of-the-range Remos GX demonstrator, which will be available for demonstration flights from its Shobdon and Peterborough/Conington bases.

Remos (UK) Managing Director Peter Foggin flew the aircraft – registered D-MPGB – from the manufacturing facility in Germany, burning just 17 litres per hour in the six-hour flight to the UK.

Peter said he was delighted with the aircraft’s performance, comfort, noise levels and fuel economy and added, “The combination of the Dynon 100 EFIS and Dynon 120 EMS and Flymap L GPS provided a state of the art glass cockpit environment and makes this a perfect training platform for future pilots”.

The aircraft is currently flying under an EASA Permit to Fly, but when the new EASA ELA (European Light Aircraft) rules come in during 2009/2010, the Remos will be able to operate under that regime.

The aircraft is powered by a Rotax 912S, and cruises at 120mph. It has a MAUX of 600kg which is said to allow a five-hour endurance for two adults with full fuel and 23kg of luggage. Three variants are currently available: the Traveller, Voyager and Cruiser, differentiated by their panel fits.

Prices range from approx £65,000 (ex VAT) to £75,000 (ex VAT), which includes a BRS.

The Remos made the headlines earlier in the year when it the company offered to honour deposits paid on the Cessna SkyCatcher by knocking $5,000 off its prices. The US has so far been the main market for the Remos, with the ‘lion’s share’ of the 300 models so far sold going to America.

The first UK delivery is expected later this month.
