Results announced for GA Red Tape Challenge

Following the General Aviation Red Tape Challenge, which found that the current regulatory regime is often too prescriptive, impractical and inappropriate, the Government and CAA have announced plans to transform the way in which the UK’s General Aviation GA sector is regulated.
One of the key changes will be the setting up of a new GA Unit within the CAA dedicated to more proportionate, effective regulation that supports and encourages a dynamic GA sector for the UK. The unit will be in place by April 2014.

Andrew Haines, Chief Executive of the CAA, said, “The Government’s GA Red Tape Challenge (RTC) was both timely and welcome. It has given my colleagues and I at the CAA a powerful reminder that we need to inject more pace into how we introduce a more proportionate and
risk-based regulatory regime for the UK GA sector and push harder for change across Europe to meet the demand evident from the GA community.”
