Rotax engines has introduced two new warranty extension programmes to its customers. The ‘1-Year Plus’ programme includes one year warranty extension or 200 additional flight hours, whichever comes first, and the ‘Full TBO’ programme means three years additional warranty or reaching of TBO (Time Before Overhaul) of 2,000 flight hours, whichever comes first.
Rotax’s Christian Mundigler, Manager Rotax Aircraft Sales, explained, “The request for the extended warrantees came from OEMs including the likes of Tecnam, Flight Design, AutoGyro and Pipistrel, all of whom wanted to be able to detail the running costs of the engine.”
What Christian was unable to tell us was the cost of the programmes, advising instead that customers speak to their local dealers, which for the UK is Skydrive.
Rotax also took the opportunity to announce improved fuel consumption figures for the 912iS engine, which was introduced into the marketplace last year. The new figures revealed a fuel economy of 36% when compared to the 912ULS. This compares to the 21% improvement announced last year.
So far 22 aircraft OEMs have completed the installation of the Rotax 912 iS engine that is now available on 26 different aircraft types.
