Siegfried ‘Blacky’ Schwarz is the Freestyle World Champion of the 15th FAI World Helicopter Championships, held in Poland from 12-16 August. The organisers said, “Schwarz’s fantastic free style flights seemed to defy the laws of physics.”
The event was dominated by Russian pilots who took the top awards in the four specialist skills: Navigation, Precision Competition, Fender Rigging and Parallel Slalom. Maxim Puajukas and Oleg Sotnikov scored the most points across the four disciplines to take first place.
British pilots taking part in the championships were David Monks, Tom Cunningham, James Stewart, Tuart Rimmer, Adrian Clarke and Chris Summer.
