Spitfires confirmed for Duxford event 28 July

Duxford Imperial War Museum has announced that five Spitfires will be on static display and taking to the air at Spitfires, Merlins and Motors on Sunday 28 July.
Taking centre stage will be the Old Flying Machine Company’s Supermarine Spitfire IX MH434, an
IWM Duxford favourite which is celebrating its 70th anniversary year. MH434 has been based at
IWM Duxford longer than any other Spitfire. Joining MH434 on static display between 10am and 1.30pm will be Air Leasing’s Spitfire IXT, Historic Aircraft Collection’s Spitfire V and The Fighter Collection’s Spitfire XIV. Members of the Spitfire Society will be on hand to answer questions as visitors get a closer look at these historic aircraft.
During the afternoon, the Spitfires will take to the skies for short solo and duo displays.
Visitors will also be able to sit in a Spitfire owned by Aircraft Restoration Company. This rare opportunity is available between 10am and 11.45am and also between 2pm and 5pm. It costs £15 per person and includes a souvenir T-shirt and photo opportunity. All proceeds go to the Blenheim Restoration Fund. See and hear the iconic Merlin engine up-close as a number of Merlin engines will be on dynamic display throughout the day.
The wartime ground crew will also be showing visitors how Spitfires would have be re-armed and ready for action. Click here for more
