Sport Class founder killed in Reno crash

Lee Behel, a retired fighter pilot was killed in a crash Monday during a qualifying race at the Reno National Championship Air Races. Behel, 64, (right) was competing in the Sport Class in his aircraft, an experimental GP-5 aircraft named “Sweet Dreams. Behel helped found and was President of the Sports Class.
Mike Major, Chairman of the Reno Air Racing Association, said in a statement, “Lee was a very talented pilot but, more importantly, an enthusiastic and compassionate friend and the entire Air Race family will miss him deeply. This is a difficult day for all of us and our thoughts and prayers are with Lee’s family and friends.”
