Italian manufacturer Tecnam is to test diesel engines in some of its aircraft.
The engines which they will be using come from UK-based Powerplant Developments, whose Gemini diesel engines are expected to be certified later this year. The Italian manufacturer is currently planning on putting examples of the Gemini 100hp and 125hp turbocharged engines in its P2006T and P92 Eaglet aircraft.
The P2006 is Tecnam’s much-awaited light twin.
“We are anticipating the Powerplant Developments’ Gemini engines will bring an exceptional level of performance and capability to Tecnam aircraft owners,” said Paolo Pascale Langer, Tecnam’s MD.
