Thielert Engines update

The latest information from Thielert Engines, the diesel manufacturer which went into bankruptcy earlier this year, was revealed in a press conference call yesterday.

The company, which is currently reviewing bids from prospective buyers, says that it is making headway in a number of areas. One is that it is focussing on extending the limits on life-limited parts from 300 to 600 hours. However, at the same time the company refused to say whether it would be honouring warranties after any potential sale to new owners. This, said the spokesmen, was up to the new owners.

On the subject of Diamond and its plans to use its new Austro engine, Gunter Kappler – who is the head of technology appointed by the adminstrators – suggested that even if Diamond no longer needed Thielert engines, the company still had a large enough order book to support itself.
