Buried towards the end of an otherwise dull financial press release, Thielert let slip that it has been awarded an EASA STC for the retrofit of its <a href=’http://www.centurion-engines.com/ ‘ target=’_blank’>Centurion 4</a> into the Cirrus SR22. The Centurion 4 is a V8 350hp engine that runs on Jet A1.
It is however significantly heavier than the IO-550 usually found in the SR22. Thielert’s website suggests that the company is working on STCs for retrofit into Cessna 414, 421, and 340 twins and the C206 single. A Beech Duke is already flying in Germany with a pair of Centurion 4s.
German press reports are suggesting that the SR22 with Centurion 4 will debut at Aero 07 in April.
