Thielert has 24 potential buyers

At the end of the first round in the bidding process to buy the insolvent diesel engine manufacturer Thielert, 24 potential buyers are still in the running.

In a statement today, Thielert says that these 24 have signed confidentiality agreements, and will soon be receiving detailed information on the current position of the company.

Insolvency administrator Bruno Kubler says that this is an uncommonly large number of potential buyers, most of whom come from the aviation industry with a few financial investors alongside them. This “shows that THIELERT is seen as an attractive investment in the industry”, Kubler commented.

• Thielert has also announced that Prof Gunter Kappler – who has been part of the team
<a href=’http://www.flyer.co.uk/news/newsfeed.php?artnum=727 ‘ target=’_blank’>since the insolvency</a> – has been appointed ‘Accountable Manager’, meaning that he is now “solely responsible for aviation safety issues in connection with CENTURION® engines, including quality management in development, production, maintenance and training, and compliance with aviation regulations.” Kappler has previously held these responsibilities at BMW-Rolls-Royce, Fairchild Dornier and Europrop International.
