Two high-profile tragedies in the USA

<b>News from <a href=”http://www.airventure.org”><img src=”images/airventure.gif” border=”0″>Oshkosh</a></b>

One pilot has died and another has been injured in a collision between two P-51 warbirds at the AirVenture fly-in at Oshkosh. The two aircraft were taking part in the daily Showcase Flights air display when they apparently made contact while landing at the southern end of the main runway.

Pictures suggest that one aircraft, still airborne, clipped the wing of another which was already on the ground, but still rolling. The airborne one flipped over and burst into flames on the grass adjoining the runway.

The two had been ‘competing’ in a mock air race.

Meanwhile in an unconnected incident two TV helicopters following a police car chase have collided over Phoenix, Arizona. Four people died in the mid-air crash.
