Among the many electric-powered on show at AERO Friedrichshafen, the Volocopter was the one that perhaps grabbed the most attention.
This German-built helicopter is powered by 18 electrically driven rotors, meaning that it produces no dodgy emissions, has minimal vibrations and should – according to the designers – be very easy to fly. The aircraft completed its first flight back in November 2013, with further test flights with a pilot due later this year. As for production, we’re told the plans are for 2016, with a €250,000 price tag.
