Wind turbine threat to Yearby airstrip

Yearby Airstrip, near Redcar, is under threat following a planning application to build two 140m high wind turbines beneath its circuit.
The airstrip has been in continuous use since 1972. Barry Smith, the operator of the strip, is appealing for as many people as possible to object to the proposal, as these two turbines infringe into the circuit base leg and together with the turbulence from them would make flying at Yearby impossible and force the closure of the strip.
A <a href=’https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GN-W29vYDAI’ target=’_blank’>video</a> has been produced to help people without an aviation background understand the dangers of wind turbines next to airfields. Details of the planning application documents and letters can be found <a href=’https://planning.redcar-cleveland.gov.uk/(S(ie2bryx3011wf0qvsbefwpsp))/plaRecord.aspx?AppNo=R/2014/0074/FFM’ target=’_blank’>here.</a> More information on the campaign is available at <a href=’http://www.acro.co.uk/’ target=’_blank’>www.acro.co.uk</a>
