If you’re looking for low cost simple fun, then the Zigolo from Aviad is worth a look.
Weighing in at just 95kg empty, including a BRS, the Zigolo easily fits within the SSDR category. Powered by a 25hp Vittorazi Moster the kit manufacturers claim that it will cruise at 42mph and stall at 22mph. Vne is 60mph, and if the video is anything to go by, engine off performance is pretty good too – the glide ratio comes in at 11:1 engine off.
The complete kit, which comes pre-drilled, is selling for £6,500. Combine that with a fuel burn of 6lph and you have a very basic, very low cost way of getting airborne on a still summer evening.
