Apex may enter liquidation

The future of French manufacturer Apex Aircraft appears to be in doubt. It is expected to go into liquidation in the next few days.

If and when this happens, Apex Aircraft and Apex Industries will cease to trade. However, all rights, airworthiness considerations and spares will be transferred to CEAPR, meaning that existing owners should not be affected.

This move is the latest knock-on effect of the Thielert bankruptcy situation. Under the name CEAPR, however, the company is pushing ahead with its plans to put the new Thielert 155hp Centurion engine into its existing EcoFlyer aircraft. Thielert’s bankruptcy earlier this year is said to have caused a ‘cashflow shortage’ for Apex which led to the current situation.

John Kistner of UK dealer Mistral Aviation told us that he has two 155hp EcoFlyers on order, and that he is fully expecting to take delivery of them before the end of the year.

This is not the first time that the Robin manufacturer has had problems, but there seems to be confidence that once again it will overcome them.
