Cambridge Aero Club extends opening hours

Cambridge Aero Club has begin operating during extended opening hours.
The change in operation was introduced to enable Aero Club members to take a flying lesson on their way to work in the morning.
Lauri Bora (pictured), who works as an engineer with ARM in Cambridge, was the first customer to take advantage of the new hours.
Lauri arrived at the Cambridge Aero Club’s premises at Cambridge International Airport just after 7am on 18 March to fly a Cessna 172 training aircraft. After a brief check-out flight with Chief Flying Instructor Anthony Cooke, Lauri spent the next 40 minutes flying solo in the calm still air over Cambridge.
Terry Holloway, Cambridge Aero Club Managing Director, said, “There is a huge demand from local people in Cambridge wanting to learn to fly, but for many finding time to do it has been a challenge, because in the past the Cambridge Aero Club’s opening hours have been very closely aligned to people’s working hours. As a result of a real public demand to be able to have a flying lesson, either on the way to work, or on the way home from work, the Cambridge Aero Club is now offering flying instruction from 7am until 9pm.”
