It’s the dream for many pilots – your very own strip, a hangar to keep the aeroplane dry, and space to fly without hassle.
Well, here’s your chance. Lakeview Airfield (EILV), near Taghmon in County Wexford, Ireland is going under the hammer on Thursday 9 October 2025.
The airfield covers about 13 acres and comes with a grass runway 25/07 that’s around 370 metres usable, with up to 500 metres hedge-to-hedge. There’s also a 171sqm hangar with sliding doors and a concrete apron – in other words, enough room to tuck away a couple of light aircraft and keep the mower.
Lakeview sits in unrestricted Class G airspace with no overhead lines, so you’ve got a clear run in and out. It’s also well placed: roughly 40km from Waterford, 150km from Dublin, and within easy striking distance of the UK. It’s also just 3km for ILAS Field, home to many fly-ins run by the Irish Light Aircraft Society.
The estate agent suggests it would suit private flying, a flying club or even a training operation. Given how tough it is to get planning permission for new airfields, opportunities like this don’t come along often.
The auction, run by Sherry FitzGerald Radford, will be both online and in person at their Wexford offices. Bidding is expected to start at around €250,000, according to Flying In Ireland.
