Hangar Homes revises plan for Solent Airport

Peter Day, the persistent developer behind Hangar Homes, has changed his plan to build mixed-use hangars at Solent Airport in a bid to overcome objections from the local council.

“I have decided not to pursue a new planning application for six mixed-use hangars and a heritage hangar/centre west of the control tower because of the issue with the ‘unobstructed strip’ between the units and the taxiway,” said Peter.

“Instead, I will be submitting a planning application for 12 mixed-use hangars on the north-west corner of the airfield, which is zoned for commercial use but unsuitable (and unwanted by local residents) as an industrial estate, but ideal for commercial use and airside access on the ground floor and residential use upstairs.

“If granted planning permission, this would make a great aviation community for those that wish to run their business from and live adjacent to the airfield with its wonderful location on the Solent.

“If anyone is interested in one of these units, please let me know so I can estimate the level of employment for the overall site, which will be the determining factor in getting planning consent.”

    Hello Peter,
I am very, very interested in your hangar homes, could I please put my name down for one.
Talking to some people at Solent I was told it would not happen, but talking to Andy Twemlow he tells me that there is every chance you will succeed in getting your planning permission.
    Good luck.
