Hawarden Airport, located in North Wales near Chester, is currently involved in the early stages of an application to the CAA for a permanent Radio Mandatory Zone (RMZ).
Within the initial consultation process the airport is looking for constructive feedback from pilots that use the airport and the surrounding airspace. Lindsay Smith, Air Traffic Controller at Hawarden, explains, “This will enable us to establish advantages and disadvantages associated with having a RMZ and whether it is indeed feasible.”
