Hucknall Airfield will close permanently on 1 March 2015.
In order to celebrate its 52 year tenure at Hucknall, the Merlin Flying Club will be offering free landings throughout February (notes – the airfield operates weekends only, no fuel available), so this is a great last opportunity for pilots to get Hucknall in their logbook. Hucknall is an historic airfield, having been in continuous use for 99 years, playing a role in both world wars before becoming a flight test facility for Rolls-Royce.
Merlin Flying Club will be holding a party on the weekend of 28 Feb-1 March with free overnight camping available and a fireworks display on Saturday evening. The club welcomes visiting pilots to join them for this event.
