Lycoming has revealed details of an expanded product range. Among the news are a new closed-loop FADEC for its O-540 series engines, certification of the experimental IO-390 and the a new 100hp engine called the IO-233.

The new FADEC system on the O-540 is expected to be certified later this year or early in 2009, and will be called the IE-2. It will eventually be available across the entire Lycoming range.

The IO-390 is a IO-360 replacement, and is to be called the Echelon STC. It is hoped that it will eventually be available across the full range of 360-equipped aircraft, but initial installations will be in a Cessna Cardinal.

The new IO-233, based on the IO-235 is aimed specifically at the LSA market. An example is on show at AirVenture, and has electronic throttles and is said to start ‘like a car’.
