21 April 2015
As of 31 March 2015 pilots and hoteliers Brendan and Allison Walsh have taken over management of the Glenforsa Airfield on the Isle of Mull, Scotland, providing a welcoming Aviation venue in the Western Isles. The airfield will have its official opening under its new owners on May 1 2015.
Brendan and Allison, both private pilots, swapped successful careers running The Intrepid Aviation Company (created to maintain and showcase the vintage aircraft collection belonging to Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour) in order to renovate and re-open The Glenforsa Hotel in 2003.
The Glenforsa Hotel and Airfield offer a unique experience for pilots where everything from first PPR contact to single malt nightcap is seamlessly managed by the same team and designed expressly with aviators in mind.
In the past, the Glenforsa Airfield annual Fly-in has been a high point in the private aviation calendar with previous events attracting up to 135 aircraft. The Glenforsa Team of 2015 will bring their extensive experience running the North Weald and Orsett air shows and are hoping and put the Glenforsa Fly-in back on the map as an unmissable event for private pilots from the UK and beyond.
The 44th Annual Glenforsa Fly-in Weekend will take place on 23-25 May 2015.
