Oxford Airline Training (OAT) has launched a new accelerated programme aimed at helping modular students bridge the gap between licence completion and airline employment.

The new Expedite Airline Career Programme officially began this week, with trainee James Todd becoming the first student to start the inaugural course.

Designed as an intensive full-time programme, Expedite runs over 16–18 weeks and combines 125 hours of advanced training tailored specifically for modular pilots preparing for airline recruitment.

The course brings together all the key advanced stages required before airline assessment, including:

  • Multi-Engine Piston (MEP)
  • Multi-Engine Instrument Rating (MEIR)
  • Multi-Engine Commercial Pilot Licence (MECPL)
  • Advanced Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (AUPRT)
  • Airline Pilot Standard Multi-Crew Cooperation (APS MCC).

OAT has also included dedicated airline preparation modules aimed at improving candidates’ readiness for airline selection and type rating.

According to OAT, the programme is designed to offer a clearer and quicker progression route for modular trainees — a sector of the training market that often requires students to piece together multiple qualifications across different providers.

The first training flights have already begun in OAT’s Diamond DA42 fleet at London Oxford Airport, marking the start of what the school hopes will become a regular pathway into airline cockpits.

To enrol, applicants need to hold a PPL(A), Night Rating, completed ATPL theoretical knowledge exams, a CPL 300-mile qualifying cross-country, 100 hours PIC and 160 hours total time. The programme is priced at £64,800, excluding UK CAA skills test fees.

OAT says the launch also coincides with its first anniversary in business, adding an extra milestone to the start of its latest training initiative.
