R66 receives Type Certification

The Robinson R66 helicopter has finally received Type Certification, with the FAA handing the certificate over to Robinson founder, Frank Robinson, and his son and company president Kurt. The FAA also handed over the R66’s production certificate, prompting Frank to comments, “Now I can produce them and I can actually collect money for them.”
The Rolls-Royce RR300-powered turbine helicopter offers increased reserve power and altitude performance, when compared to the R44, as well as a fifth seat and large baggage compartment.
Brian Kane, Head of Marketing at Heli Air, the UK’s largest Robinson dealer, commented, “We were delighted with the reception to the R66 Turbine at last year’s HAI and so far interest from UK customers has exceeded our expectations, with a large number of confirmed orders already in. Now that the helicopter has received its FAA Certification, with the EASA certification process commencing, we look forward to the level of interest increasing considerably.” Click here for more
