The Sam LS has been approved by Transport Canada and is now for sale as a kit, following its first flight in March.
The retro look light sport aircraft, which was on display at AirVenture Oshkosh, is available as a kit or as sub-kits – the wings, fuselage, and empennage can all be purchased separately, at prices ranging from $2,600 to $7,300. All those kits together cost $29,000, and the cost is the same whether they are purchased all at once or piecemeal.
According to Sam Aircraft, a complete kit with a Rotax engine and Dynon Skyview avionics is about $65,000 and takes about 900 hours to build.
Launch price of a Sam LS Ready to Fly is $131,000. The Sam is approved by Transport Canada as an Advanced Ultra Light Aircraft in Canada and is LSA Eligible in the USA.
