Scotland On Floats is celebrating after receiving the first ever certification in Europe for a Cessna 172 on amphibious floats.
G-DRAM, a 210HP French-built FR172F Reims Rocket, made its first float-equipped flight earlier this week. The flight was from Perth. The aircraft is fitted with Wipline 2350A floats.
Hamish Mitchell from the company said “G-DRAM will initially be used to promote Scotland as the ideal alternative destination for floatplane and adventure flying. She will also be available as a Wipline float demonstrator and to provide amphibian training from Glasgow Flying Club at Glasgow International Airport.”
The news comes not long after <Loch Lomond Seaplanes announced that it would be starting a commercial seaplane service out of Glasgow City Centre in 2007.
