The CAA has published (via the On track site) statistics regarding the number of airspace infringements and the follow-up actions caused by them. The figures are from the Aviation Regulation Enforcement Branch of the CAA.
They show that although the number of infringements (in this case the figure is taken from CAA’s Mandatory Occurence Reporting database) has risen from a low in 2001 of 314 to a high in 2006 of 630, the number of prosecutions has fallen from a high of 17 in 2002 to 5 in both 2005 and 2006. It should be noted that the prosecutions may include some arising from investigations conducted in the previous year. The number of formal cautions and formal conditional cautions have, however, risen.
