Bell stops making the JetRanger

Bell Helicopters has announced that it is to stop making the Bell B206 JetRanger. The JetRanger – currently being made in its 206B-3 III version – has been one of the most popular helicopters of all time. The light single-engine turbine machine has been in production since the 1960s, and over 3,200 are in commercial service. Many more are being used by the military.

Alongside the B206, the company has also announced that it will be discontinuing the 427, 430 and 210 models. “All current customer commitments will be met through 2010,” says the company, adding “Each of these models will continue to be supported by Bell’s customer support network around the world.”

At the same time, Bell says that it will concentrating on its successful models, the 412, 407 and the new 429 GlobalRanger.
